Relationship advice - late 20s...?

I had to specify the age group because it seems that the majority of questions are geared towards younger teens...Anyway...I'm 27, so is my girlfriend and we're professionals in a medium sized town...I haven't had too many relationships but fear my current one is going down the drain...We've been together about 2 years, and I was about to propose in the coming weeks, but we got into a fight on Thursday...It started out small, but then she got way mad and I said many things I shouldn't have...Normal ? I'd think so if only happens very seldom, which is the case (bi-annually maybe?)...This time is different though. After a couple of days of not talking she is now saying "she needs a week or so to think about things"....She says she loves me, but can't see me or is afraid we will just make up and get back together without resolving our issue. She says she is praying and thinking, but I suspect shes taking advice from those close to her, which isn't always the best. In my past experience, this is often times the beginning of the end. Anyone have a different experience ? Could it possibly be that this will be a lesson for us to appreciate one another more, or am I hoping against hope ? I fear the worst.
