How does checked baggage work on am amtrak train to boston if it switches to a bus?

It says online that there is track work, and that at Albany it switches to a bus...I've taken two trips before with Amtrak but I'm a light packer so I never checked anything, and I'm wondering how it would work if I'm gonna be switching to a bus...it says that everyone gets 3 pieces of free checked baggage..that seems like a lot if everyone does that, too much for a bus to carry.. I'm only doing one checked and two carry-ons, which I should bring more since I'm gonna be there a very long time but...since I've never brough luggage before I'm a little nervous!
